Rebecca Doukas
Software Engineer Student
Hi! I'm Rebecca Doukas! I recently completed a 12-month coding bootcamp at Actualize to become a software engineer. Originally, I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from Illinois State University and moved to Chicago to pursue a career in Hospitality. Eight years later and five years at a law firm in Event Management, I realized Hospitality was no longer the career for me.
I come from a family of programming nerds so it was the next obvious choice for me! Thanks to the change, I finally get their jokes after 30 years of hearing crazy acronyms. I'm also able to throw coding jokes at my brother who I've NEVER made laugh in the past.
In my free time I enjoy playing pool, enjoying the outdoors, cooking, trying the next new restaurant and spending time with friends and family. I have a STRONG addiction to coffee and love finding new coffee shops.
If it's a good idea, go ahead and do it. It's much easier to apologize than it is to get permission.
Grace Hopper was an American computer scientist and one of the first programmers of the Harvard Mark I computer. She was a pioneer of computer programming and invented one of the first linkers.
